MetroWest Daily News: More pipelines will save ratepayers

“Natural gas is clean, reliable and affordable and provides almost 50 percent of the region’s electricity. New England’s self-imposed natural gas supply limitations are as costly as they are unnecessary. We have access to plentiful natural gas supplies only a day’s drive away. Failure to build the pipelines necessary to take advantage of this resource has cost the region at least $7.5 billion during a span of three recent winters alone. Unless we update our infrastructure to keep pace with electricity needs, our energy bills will jump $5.4 billion by 2020, in addition to $12.5 billion in lost disposable income and 167,000 lost jobs across a variety of sectors including construction and manufacturing.”
